TOPIC: THE POWER OF FAITH

TEXT: Romans 9:30 – 33

30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed

INTRODUCTION TEXT

The great contrast according to our text today is that the Israelites who sought for righteousness could not find it, while the Gentiles who never followed after righteousness realised it. The difference between their approaches is that the former sought to have it by the works of the law while the later depended on faith in Christ Jesus. The righteousness of man is nothing but a filthy rag before God (Isa. 64:6).

If man could bring himself to righteousness by his efforts, Jesus Christ would not have come in human form and experienced humiliation in the hands of they that He came to save. As good as morality and legality are, they are not sufficient for the salvation of man. Simple faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ attracts the grace of salvation to any heart that cares. Have you tried to make it on your own to no avail? You are simply on the wrong track. Believe in the Lord Jesus' death as the ultimate price for the sins of man Confess your weakness to Him by faith and ask Him to impute to you the righteousness of God. For sure, He will.

Prayer: Father, lead me in the path of righteousness through the grace in Jesus which comes by faith. Amen,
