Anglican Bible Study - STUDY 11 MARCH 13, 2022. STUDY 11    2ND SUNDAY IN LENT  MARCH 13 2022

THEME: THE LORD GOD AND THE REIGN OF PEACE

SUB-THEME: Christian’s Knowledge of God

TOPIC: God as Life

TEXTS: John 1:1-4.

AIMS:

i.   to discuss God as the life in mankind,

ii.   to explain how best we can enjoy our life as Christians on earth and in heaven

INTRODUCTION

The Lord God is not just the giver of life to humankind but He is the life in every soul on earth. Our texts today remind us of the breathing of life into the first man created by God, thereby making him a living soul. According to John 17:3, knowing God is the meaning of life because He is the “Author of life.”  The meaning of life is not based on things we see in the world “for life is more than food, and the body more than clothing” (Luke 12:23). Is it possible for one to be physically alive but spiritually dead? How? This and others shall be discussed in our guide today.

STUDY GUIDE

1. From our Text(John 1:1, 4), how can you explain the fact that God is Life? Ref: Deut. 32:39; John 11:25

2. According to Josh 1:8; John 17:3, Pro. 8:36, how best can we enjoy the life of God?

3. Is it possible for one to be physically alive but spiritually dead? If yes, how? Eph. 2:1-3; Rev 3:1.

4. How can the spiritually dead person regain life? Rom. 8:10-11; Gal 2:20; 5:24

CONCLUSION

The author of life is the only one who can give and take life from anyone. From Him we come and to Him we shall all return. Therefore, our knowledge and relationship with Him here on earth will dictate our eternal life and relationship with Him in heaven.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Every enemy of God is dead while living.

MEMORY VERSE: John 17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent”.
