Anglican Bible Study - STUDY 12, MARCH 20, 2022. STUDY 12 3RD SUNDAY IN LENT MARCH 20, 2022.

THEME: THE LORD GOD AND THE REIGN OF PEACE

SUB-THEME: Christian’s Knowledge of God

TOPIC: God as Creator I: The Creator of Heaven and Earth

TEXT: Isaiah 45:5-9

AIM: To help participants acknowledge God as the ultimate Creator and Preserver of the whole universe.

INTRODUCTION

To think that no one created the world is as good as thinking that no one manufactured the wristwatches in our hands. According to Marylyn Baker, a blind singer, “It is not chance that brought things into being; chance could not have made it all so very well.” Genesis chapter one gives us a detailed account of how God created everything. Seeing God as the Creator is expected to create a sense of awe and reverence for Him in our hearts.

STUDY GUIDE

1. From our text today (Isaiah 45:5-9), how would you convince a doubter that God indeed is the Creator of the whole universe? Compare with John 1:1-4.

2. Read the first paragraphs of the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed and highlight evidence for God as Creator.

3. Discuss how the knowledge of God as Creator can boost our faith in challenging situations, (e.g., coping with a bad medical report)? Cf. Psalm 50:15; Isaiah 41:18; 43:19; Acts 16:25-26.

CONCLUSION

God is the ultimate Creator and besides Him, there is none else. He is not only the Creator but also the Preserver of the whole universe. Unfortunately, today, many are worshipping the created things rather than the Creator Himself. Let us draw ourselves back to the Creator and it shall be well with us.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: If not God, then who is the uncreated Creator? Please think over this

MEMORY VERSE
: Isaiah 45:7 “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things”.
