UMH 073: O Worship the King

 This is the United Methodist Hymnal (UMH) book. We shall be presenting them according to their numbers and list in the hymnal book. Search our hymnslab for other hymns. We have published Yoruba hymns and Igbo hymns (Abu Anglican) too. UMH 073: O Worship the King

UMH 073: O Worship the King

1. O worship the King, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing God's power and God's love;
our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

2. O tell of God's might, O sing of God's grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space,
whose chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is God's path on the wings of the storm.

3. The earth with its store of wonders untold,
Almighty, thy power hath founded of old;
hath stablished it fast by a changeless decree,
and round it hath cast, like a mantle, the sea.

4. Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

5. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.

The United Methodist Hymnal Number 073. Text: Robert Grant, 1779-1838. Music: Attr. to Johann Michael Haydn, 1737-1806; (UMH arr. by William Gardiner). Tune: LYONS, Meter: 10 10.11 11

UMH 073: O Worship the King

Hymns and songs of praises are tools for spiritual worship and also a form of prayer. It is also a scriptural recommendation. Yes, God recommended singing songs or hymns in the Bible.

In both Ephesians 5:19 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, and Colossians 3:16, "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts." Paul preached about gathering believers and making songs of praise and singing of hymns.

These hymns are the collections of the united Methodist Church Hymnal book. They may be similar with the hymns in SS&S book or the Anglican Ancient and Modern Hymnal. But what make them different is the numbering and titles. Hymns are mostly searched according to title and the denominations.

 For example, You can find a hymn like Abide with me fast fall... as A&M 27 - Abide with me: fast falls the eventide in the Anglican hymn book number and also found in SS&S - ABIDE WITH ME, FAST FALLS THE EVEN-TIDE - SS&S 297.

UMH 073: O Worship the King. Be richly blessed as you sing unto the Lord!
