And You Shall Know the Truth John 8: 32 is the word from Jesus to the people who was listening to his teaching. One thing about this topic is the difficulty in defining the major keyword which is "the truth".


32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Truth is very difficult to define this days, especially now that we are in the perverse world. We often hear the words like: there is nothing like absolute truth. People also say truth is geographically and contigentionally and situationally defined.

These grammar are all lies from the pit of hell. When we talk about the Jesus truth, we mean the central truth. We mean the truth that stands forever. It the truth that does not change when faced with opposition and materials gains. This kind of truth we are talking about remains the same, anywhere and anytime.


What is that Truth and how can we know it?

When  Jesus told us about knowing the truth and it shall set us free, he didn't just let us wallow in the confusion of what He means, he gave us standard. Yes, truth has a standard. We can find in in the Letter of Paul to the Philippians verse 4: 8.
Phil 4: 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Truth has features and when you see or hear it, you will know. Truth they say is bitter. Yes, this saying could be correct but not all that correct. Truth is bitter in the ears and heart of a sinner but it gladdens the heart of every true child of God.

Features of Truth are: 

  • Truth is Excellent: 

There is no two ways about it, truth represent excellency. The general truth Jesus talks about must take the feature of excellency. It must not come to please others or to appease a particular sets of people.

  • Truth is Noble
  • Truth is Honorable
  • Truth is lovely
  • Truth is Praiseworthy
  • Truth is gracious.
What is the essence of Truth?

It can be found in John 4: 24:
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Without truth, there will be no life. We need truth to distinguish evil from good. Lev. 18: 22.

The truth will make you know and serve God with in righteousness and to help you in your heavenly race.

What will make you know the truth?
